The porcelain Hu vase is of flattened form with a transparent turquoise glaze applied directly to the biscuit. The square section of the main body is embellished with two foliate-shaped panels one to each face, decorated with a border of scrolling plants, each containing a naturalistic scene of flowering lotus plants in a pond all in low relief. The sides have a lobed design, with scrollwork on the prominent shoulders leading to a waisted neck flanked by two handles in the form of mythical dragon-fish, below a flaring mouth. A Label on the underside of foot reads ‘Pierre Jacque, 12, av George V.’
