A rare pair of Kakiemon porcelain cockbirds
Late 17th century, Genroko period, Japan
Height: 28cm, 11.02inches
Each is standing upon rockwork bases displaying their handsome plumage, the details moulded and brilliantly decorated in iron red, blue, green, yellow and black enamels, the irregularly shaped bases in washed iron oxide.
As far as we are aware there are no other cockbirds published of this model.
