The cylindrical four-lobed oval brush pot is separated into four sections and raised on a short foot rim. Each section is deftly carved in low relief with a series of floral and landscape scenes depicting birds amongst lotus leaves and flowers, or mandarin ducks swimming in between lotus stems, all on a reduced background. The main design is framed above and below with a key fret boarder. The bamboo surface is a warm, bright orange colour.
