This rare and unusual censer consists of the head of three wrinkled elephants, in which the trunks form the bracket shaped legs, while the body of each head forms the main body of the censer. Two rectangular open handles rise from a raised circular mouth, the censer covered by a domed lid with rectangular openings surmounted by a seated lion, all glazed in bright turquoise pooling darker in low lying parts. An original elaborate carved wood base sets off the censer to great effect.
