The figure stands on an irregular base of scrolling waves, his three legged toad at his feet. His right arm is raised, the left hand at stomach height and originally a banner or pole of sorts would have been held. Liu Hai is dressed in a dhoti like dress, his stomach exposed and shoulders covered by a shawl, the facial features in broad laughter.
