A large and impressive five piece Imari porcelain garniture
circa 1700 AD, Japan
Vase and cover height: 84 cm, 33.1 inches
Trumpet vase height: 58 cm, 23 inches
Consisting of three baluster vases with domed covers and perforated finials and two trumpet shaped vases with broad flaring mouths. The decoration is consistent throughout the garniture with the main field and the covers in each case divided up into alternating scenes, the one with a jardinière containing a flowering peony, some rockwork and a flowering tree, the other depicting a boat covered by a canopy floating past a pavilion amongst flowering trees.
